Privacy Policy — UK Visa Sponsor Checker

The UK Visa Sponsor Checker Chrome extension (the “Extension”) runs entirely on your device. This policy explains, in plain language, what data the Extension does and does not touch.
What the Extension does
- Reads the employer or company name shown on the LinkedIn company page (
/company/…) or job page (/jobs/…) you are currently viewing. - Compares that name against the UK Home Office’s public Register of Licensed Sponsors (Workers), which the Extension downloads from gov.uk.
- Shows the match result inline on the page and inside the extension’s toolbar popup.
What the Extension does NOT do
- The Extension does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information about you.
- The Extension does not send the LinkedIn company name, page URL, or your browsing activity to any external server. All comparisons happen locally on your device against a cached copy of the public register.
- The Extension does not use analytics, tracking pixels, cookies, advertising identifiers, or third-party SDKs.
- The Extension does not sell, share, or transfer any user data to any third party.
Data stored on your device
The Extension caches the public sponsor register CSV in Chrome’s local extension storage (chrome.storage.local), keyed by date, purely to avoid re-downloading it from gov.uk on every lookup. The cache is pruned automatically each day. You can clear it at any time by removing the Extension.
Third-party services
The Extension makes network requests to the following public UK Government hosts, solely to download the sponsor register:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/register-of-licensed-sponsors-workers— to locate the current CSV download URL.https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk— where the CSV file itself is hosted.
These requests contain no user-identifying payload beyond what any standard HTTPS request to a public website carries (IP address, User-Agent).
Permissions used and why

Changes to this policy
If we ever change how the Extension handles data, this policy and the Extension’s Chrome Web Store listing will be updated to reflect the new behavior.
